Healthier Food is the starting point for a Healthier You!

We should all agree that eating more vegetables is a healthy choice for our meals. When you learn that Microgreens are much more nutritious than their adult forms, it only makes sense to include them in your diet daily. The problem is that most people don’t even know what Microgreens are. One reason for that is that people don’t usually see them in grocery stores. Microgreens are not in most grocery stores because they have a shorter shelf-life than other produce (usually 1-3 weeks), therefore must be grown close to the point of sale. Since most grocery stores import the produce they sell from hundreds or thousands of miles away, the vegetables they sell are many weeks old when they get to the store.

When I learned about Microgreens, I started growing them for our family to enjoy. After we often ran out a few days after harvesting a crop, I found myself anticipating the next harvest. That is when I decided to ramp up the production of growing Microgreens. I had a VISION to start on the path of creating a business out of growing and selling them. I want to provide a local source for others who wish to enjoy these nutritious and delicious vegetables. In part, that’s how the name of our business, Visionary Microgreens, was chosen.

The other reason for choosing “Visionary Microgreens” as our company’s name and “See Your Way to Healthier Food” as our motto relates to my profession. I am a practicing Optometrist (in my 31st year). The motivation for starting this adventure was because I wanted to adopt a healthier diet and share that option with others. However, I can’t separate that I am an eye doctor caring for patients every day who could benefit from a healthier diet. Often, I discuss the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle with my patients who may have high blood pressure, heart disease, or diabetes. Eating fresh vegetables and exercising can help maintain a healthier retina and, ultimately, a better chance to retain better vision throughout their lives. When I was considering starting this adventure, one day, I woke up in the middle of the night and had the idea for our business name and the motto. I got out of bed, typed it in the Notes app on my phone, and went back to sleep. And after that, we were off and running.

Thanks for supporting us along our journey!
